My friend David Jan Žák is a poet, writer, journalist and a teacher. He lives with his wife, little daughter Anežka and their cat Mazlík in a small wooden house in the Bohemian Forest. He spends the weekends, holidays and his free time at a mobile house deep in the forests of the Gratzen Mountains. There he likes to read comic books, draw Indians and sit by a brook, watching trout. So far he has published seven poetry books, his poems have been translated to several languages and they have been enlisted in the anthology of Czech poetry of the 20th century by the Parisian publisher Gallimard. He has written three adult books, one of which - The Return of the King of the Bohemian Forest (in Czech Návrat krále Šumavy) became a bestseller immediately after publishing. For many years I have been visiting him in the Gratzen Mountains, where I take pictures of David and his little family as they go about their everyday activities around the mobile house. I envy him a bit, but I know that I am not yet prepared for this way of life. I am a walker.
